Philosophy & Values
Our approach to nutrition counseling is rooted in person-centered nutrition care, meaning we prioritize respect, empathy, and cultural competence to ensure that our support aligns with each client’s unique needs, values, and lived experiences.
By embracing this model, we move away from the traditional provider-driven approach—where care is something done to the client—and instead foster a true partnership, working collaboratively with individuals to create meaningful, sustainable changes.

Each client who enters our practice is encouraged to come exactly as they are, shaped by their unique lived experiences and histories. It’s not surprising when clients, particularly LGBTQIA+ folks, disabled persons, and neurodivergent people, arrive with intricate and complex relationships to food, health, and their bodies. These complexities aren’t flaws but an understandable response to navigating a world that often marginalizes, misunderstands, or discriminates. People adapt creatively, finding their own meaningful ways to cope with the systemic and personal challenges they face. The struggles clients experience are purposeful, adaptive, and deeply rooted in resilience and survival. Here, we will treat those adaptations with compassion and promote healing while we support behaviors that serve you long term in pursuit of your intentions.

Part of practicing ethical curiosity means acknowledging our own curiosity, but grounding it firmly in the client's own purpose. Rather than leading with our assumptions about what's helpful, we pause to truly listen to what our clients are seeking. Ethical curiosity gently guides us to ask, "How can I support my client in accessing the care they desire?" instead of imposing care that may neither feel relevant nor respectful to them.
